The AGC of Michigan Safety, Health & Environmental Committee is an active group focused on construction safety related issues. The committee is comprised of safety, health and environmental professionals that meet quarterly to review and discuss current and future concerns or changes that impact the construction industry. The committee members are a diverse group comprised of general contractors, specialty contractors, universities, insurance companies, and suppliers. This gives the group an opportunity to look at the construction industry from many viewpoints. Examples of topics that the committee addresses include: New OSHA and MIOSHA regulations, best practices, new challenges with equipment, work processes, or projects and challenging safety and health hazards.
The group also establishes the process and qualifying criteria for the recognition and awarding of the AGC Chapter Safety Awards and promotes participation in the National AGC Safety Award (NASA) Program. This along with their guidance on safety, health and environmental challenges, ensures that employers and employees in Michigan have some of the safest, healthiest and environmentally friendly workplaces in the country.
